Dr. Sara Schmitz is a 2015 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she was recognized for her excellence in client communication, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, and community practice.
Dr. Schmitz started her veterinary career in Columbus, where she is from, before heading south to further her career in South Carolina. While there, she served as Owner/Medical Director at three different practices between Charleston and Greenville. During her time there, she was recognized as Best Veterinarian in Berkeley County and her hospital also received recognition as Best Veterinary Hospital in Berkeley County. Additionally, another location she led was recognized as Best Veterinary Hospital in Simpsonville and Runner-up for Best in the Upstate. Dr. Schmitz prides herself on compassionate veterinary care, excellent communication and creating a personal experience for her patients and clients.
Last year, the calling of being close to family brought her back to Ohio. Dr. Schmitz has a strong background and interest in preventative care medicine, behavior, internal medicine case management, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. She is passionate about client education and mentoring new veterinarians and veterinary students.
When not caring for your fur babies, you’ll find her spending time with her husband Josh, their three girls, and probably planning their next trip to Disney. If not at Disney, she’s likely cuddled up with a good book in her home library!
The Schmitz crew also has a Bernese Mountain dog mix named Clover and two gerbils, Biscuit and Popcorn.
